What we do
I offer independent financial advice on a broad range of areas. Mainly to individuals and small companies (10 employees or fewer ).
I am happy to be remunerated either through commissions or fees.
Main areas in which I advise are :
- Mortgages – Residential; Buy-to-Let, Commercial
- Protection Contracts, for example
- Life Cover
- Critical Illness
- Income Protection Insurance
- Private Medical Insurance
Within these protection areas I have developed a specialization in obtaining, where possible, cover for clients pre-existing health conditions and occupations and leisure pursuits which are classed as hazardous by underwriters. The health conditions may be current or in remission.
I have some 15 years experience of working with clients GP’s and have consultants who advise me in these matters. I use these inputs to put the client’s case to underwriters. I have seen quite fundamental changes in underwriters’ requirements over the years. Earlier some 10 % of these protection contracts carried worse-than-standard terms. The minimum loading was 10%. Now some 50% carry such terms; with a minimum loading of 50%
I am seeing more clients who have been refused cover and do not know why. And most importantly, what to do next.
Experience
My clients come to me because they recognize that worthwhile financial advice should necessarily be based on:
- Assistance in sorting out what All the considerations really are. And how they should work out the degree of importance attaching to them. So different from “ telling them what to do” !
- A thorough analysis of the pro’s and cons of the alternatives available
- A commitment to keeping the providers at arm’s length – always
That way they arrive at an answer which is the least costly for what they require to be done.
